Adrian von Ripka works as Tonmeister / Recording Supervisor / Music Producer at SWR (Südwestrundfunk). He is responsible for music productions with the SWR Big Band, the SWR Symphony Orchestra and many other ensembles that are recorded for SWR, also in co-production with record companies.

He also provides audio production, on-location recording, post-production, sound design and mastering for a wide range of major and independent labels and clients. He works with all types of music, with an emphasis on acoustic genres such as classical and jazz.

Over the years he has worked for labels such as Winter & Winter, ACT Music & Vision, Deutsche Grammophon, Sony Music, Warner Music, Universal Music, while recording, editing, mixing and mastering the work of artists such as Paul Motian, Uri Caine, Jessye Norman, Theo Bleckmann, Joachim Kühn, Michael Wollny, Nils Landgren, Thomas Quasthoff, Joey Baron, Peter Erskine, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart State Opera Orchestra, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, NDR Bigband and many others.

He has supervised many radio and television productions, including broadcasts by Quincy Jones & Friends, Jacob Collier, Dee Dee Bridgewater, George Benson, Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Zaz, SWR Big Band, Bon Jovi, Steve Winwood, Rodger Hodgson, Bonnie Raitt, Level 42, Jamiroquoai, NDR Symphony Orchestra, BR Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre National de France.

During his studies in the mid 1980s at the University of Music, Duesseldorf and University of Applied Sciences in Duesseldorf, he gained valuable experience in many areas of music production, as well as radio, television and video production.

Since the late 1980s until 2022 he has been working for one of the most prestigious recording studios, Bauer Studios, as tonmeister in many different styles of music and is involved in several hundreds of productions, from recording/producing through mixing and mastering.

In the 1990s he expanded his freelance work, particularly through his close collaboration with the Winter & Winter label, which has resulted in several hundred projects to date. In recent years, he has also done sound design for art exhibitions and performances.

As music producer or recording engineer he is significantly involved in productions which received major awards like “ECHO Klassik”, “ECHO Jazz”, “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”, “German Jazz Gold Award”, “Diapason d’Or” and were “GRAMMY®” nominated.
